Frequently Used Terms
You will find browsing the free gift sites, as well as forums like eXceem, that some terms are used that may not make sense right away, here is a list of the most used ones, along with a small explanation.
Support Tickets
A support ticket is the easiest way to get in touch with the free gift site, enabling you to ask the site staff questions to ensure you are doing the right thing, as well as solving any problems that occur. Most free gift sites will respond to support tickets within 24 hours, but may take up to 2 working days. You can find links to the free gift networks support systems on the 3iPod links page.
Referral
Used to identify someone who has joined a free gift site by using your referral link. A referral by itself is not enough to complete the tasks required to get your free gift, as they will need to go on to complete an offer, once this has been done then it will count towards your free gift.
Referral Link
A unique link used to identify anyone who joins the free gift site as being credited to your account. You can then use this link to promote your account and get more referrals.
Offer
In order to get your free gift you are required to complete an offer, this means joining a company/service through a offer link on the offers page on the free gift site. You must join via the links/banners present on the offers page for the offer to be credited back to your account on the free gift site. You cannot already be a customer of the offer you are about to join, nore can anyone in your household. If you are in any doubt about offers then I would suggest you send in a support ticket to the relevant free gift site, as every free gift site has different policies.
Example offers include DVD rental services, gambling sites, insurance and internet service providers to name a few.
Advertiser
These are the companies that provide the offers used, please note that their customer service staff can not help in anyway with the free gift sites, any enquiries should be sent to the free gift site via a support ticket
Verification
Verification is the process that takes place once you have obtained the required number of referrals, and completed your own offer. In most cases you will need to view your account status page on the free gift site, and click a button to start the verification process. The free gift site staff will check both your account and your referrals to ensure no rules have been broken, this is to protect both the free gift site and the advertisers involved from fraud. Once this has been completed you will be able to order your free gift.
Gift Ordering
Gift ordering is the final step! Once your account has been successfully verified you will be able to order your gift. The free gift site will either source the gift from a wholesaler and courier it to you, or use a retailer, often Amazon is used, and arrange for it to be sent directly to you. Since every free gift site will do things differently I would suggest sending in a support ticket to answer any specific questions.
Green
The term green has 2 main meanings, its commonly used to describe a referral who has completed a offer, which would be classed as a green. If you had 10 referrals who had joined under your referral link, of which 3 had completed a offer, then you would have 3 greens.
You will also find while trading, people will say “I have gone green” to indicate that they have completed an offer, and fulfilled their side of the trade.
Yellow
The term yellow is used to indicate a referral who has signed up but yet to complete a offer. In the example used above for green, if there was 10 referrals who had signed up to your link, and 3 had gone on to complete a offer, you would have 3 greens and 7 yellows.
Red
The term red is used to indicate a referral who has been placed on hold.
The terms green, yellow and red are used, as most free gift sites often have a green tick when an referral has completed an offer, and place referrals who broke the rules with a red cross. Not all free gift sites do this now, but the terms seam to have stuck!
This is just a overview of the commonly used terms, if you have any questions feel free to contact 3iPod, or send in a support ticket to the relevant free gift site.
